About Sahara
Sahara Smith was born in Austin and raised in the Texas Hill Country. She got her first guitar at 8 and began writing songs and performing them locally at age 13. After the release of her debut album Myth of the Heart, she was named Best Folk Act, Best Female Vocalist and Best Songwriter at the Austin Music Awards.
From there she went on to perform on the Letterman show and has had songs featured in television and film and is currently working on a new album.
With over 25 years of experience writing, singing, playing guitar and performing and over ten years of experience as a music teacher, she is excited to come on as a new member of the Girl Guitar team.
She finds joy in helping others along their journey of musical self-expression and loves working with new and emergent songwriters, and singers who are eager to discover their hidden vocal strengths.
Policy stuff: Students are asked to pay for or cancel each lesson at least 24 hours in advance. Without 24 hours’ notice on cancellation, the teacher is not required to make up the lesson. You’re welcome to pay weekly or for several at a time – whatever works best for you!
